Ingredients

Butter Mix:

  • 1 Tsp Garlic minced
  • 1 Tsp Parsley Flakes
  • 1/2 Stick Butter softened

Sandwich:

  • 5 Slices Pepperoni
  • 2 Slices Bread used white
  • 2 Slices Mozzarella
  • Spaghetti Sauce for dipping optional

Instructions

Butter Mix:

  1. Mix the butter, garlic and parsley together until fully mixed. I like to pre make this at home and bring in a dish to camp.

Sandwich:

  1. Pre heat pie iron over fire.

  2. Butter one side of two slices of bread using your garlic butter mixture.

  3. Place one slice butter side down in your heated pie iron.

  4. Add a slice of mozzarella on top of bread in pie iron.

  5. Add four to five slices of pepperoni. Follow that with another slice of cheese.

  6. Place the other slice of buttered bread on top of the cheese. Make sure the butter side is facing out so it will touch the pie iron.

  7. Close the pie iron and lock closed and hold it over the campfire for about five minutes. Make sure to flip it a few times so that it cooks evenly on each side.

  8. Carefully open and see if it is golden to your liking. If not close and cook for a little longer.

  9. Serve with a side of sauce for dipping. I use spaghetti sauce for this.

Recipe Notes

If cooking for a lot of people, you can skip the pie iron and cook on a cast iron pan or griddle over the fire.

Butter mix makes enough to do about four sandwiches.
