Makes: 1 Sheep
Time: 10 minutes + paint drying time
Skill: Easy
Sheep Cork Craft Supplies Needed:
- 2 Corks
- Hot Glue Gun
- Hot Glue Stick
- 2 Small Googly Eyes
- Black Paint
- Xacto Knife
- Small Drill Bit (or like object)
- Small Paint Brush
- 4 Ornate Toothpicks
- Handful Of Fiber Fill Stuffing (or pulled-apart cotton balls)
- Cutting Mat or Board
How To Make A Cork Sheep:
Step 1: Lay a cork on the cutting mat. Then using Xacto cut off two slices of the cork. The cut pieces should be about the thickness of two quarters stacked. Now take one of those slices and cut it in half. Throw out the other cut whole slice.
Step 2: Using the black paint, paint the rest of that piece of cork and the two half pieces. You will have to paint in stages and allow to dry in between as all ends and edges need to be painted.
Step 3: While holding the pointed end of the toothpick, dip them in paint so that it is 3/4 way painted black. Do all 4 toothpicks. Stick the point end into a piece of styrofoam cup or pool noodle to allow it to dry.
Step 4: When the corks are dry, use hot glue to glue googly eyes to one end of the 3/4 cork. These will be the sheeps eyes.
Step 5: To make the ears, glue the two black half pieces on each side of the cork by the eyes. You can glue them hanging down or up.
Step 6: When the toothpicks are dry, break off the unpainted end so that the painted ends are all about 2 inches long.
Assembling The Sheep:
Step 7: Make 4 holes in the bottom of the whole cork. I used a small thumb drill. Just needs to go slightly in and not all the way through. Use hot glue in the holes and push the broken-off end of the toothpick into each hole.
Step 8: In the middle of the bottom of the cork with eyes make a small hole. Use a small piece of toothpick and glue and push the toothpick in the hole.
Step 9: At one end on the top of the whole cork make a hole. Use hot glue and push the other end of the toothpick that is sticking out of the bottom of the head into the hole. You can have it slightly turned or straight.
Step 10: The last step is to glue on the fur or aka fiber filling all over the whole cork. Try to make it even and not clumpy. You want it to be light and fluffy.
