Football Decor – Football Wall Or Door Decor
Looking to show a little game day team support? I will show you how to make some football decor. This can either be hung on a wall or a door. Would be great decor if you will be hosting a football party!
This football decor can be changed up to fit the team you support. Or you could even leave out a team and just have it for football decor that works with any team.
If you will be hanging it on a wall, you could use a paper tablecloth as the backing. But if you will be using it on a door, I would use the plastic as the paper will get moist and fall apart.
Most of the supplies can be bought at a dollar store if you do not have it on hand. Or you can also get it online from places like Amazon.
Football Decor Supplies:
- 1 Yellow Pool Noodle
- 1 Small Foam Football
- School Glue
- 1 Plastic Football Field Table Cloth
- 1 Small Team Decal (I used the team I root for, feel free to use your favorite team)
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
- Stright Stick or Wood Dowel (24-26 inches long)
- Pliers
- Scissors
- 1 Wire Coat Hanger
- Nylon Thread or Fishing Line
- Needle
The first thing you want to do is to untwist the coat hanger and straighten it out.
Now cut about 12 inches off your pool noodle. Using the longest piece of the pool noodle, run the coat hanger through the center hole.
You should have just a small amount of hanger sticking out of each end. Using the pliers, bend the ends of the hanger to form a small loop at each end.
Now bend the noodle with the hanger in it to form a goal shape. It will kind look like a squared off U.
Next, using the hot glue gun, glue the 12-inch piece of noodle to the bottom center of your formed goal noodle. Set aside and allow to fully dry/harden.
Making The Backing:
Cut the tablecloth in half lengthwise. Then cut that piece about 4 inches longer than your formed pool noodle goal.
Flip it over so the back is facing you. At one end (lengthwise) place your stick or dowel on the cloth, fold the cloth over it and hot glue it in place. This will make a pocket in the cloth for your stick to be in.
The stick you use should be just slightly shorter than the width of the cloth. That way you don’t have to see the ends of the stick.
The next thing you want to do is cut a small slight about 3 to 4 inches in from each end. Cut a long piece of nylon thread and tie one end to the stick in one slight and the other end to the stick in the other slight. This will make a string to hang your football decor with.
Now flip the cloth over. Cut a small piece of thread about 2 inches or so long and tie it to the nylon thread already attached. Make it so there is a loop at the end. Do this on both ends.
Next, hook the loops of your hanger on those loops of thread to attach the goal to the backing.
Now we want to add the decal. Simply trim off any extra plastic from the decal and use the school glue to glue it in the center of the goal onto the cloth backing. Allow to fully dry.
Attaching The Football:
Using a needle and nylon thread push it through the center or end (depending on how you want it hanging) and pull the thread through. You may have to squeeze the ball flat to get it all the way through.
Then simply take each end of the thread and tie it to the hanger loops on your foam goal.
That is it! You now have a cute new door or wall hanging football decor! As you can see from the pictures I am a Steelers fan all the way! Who do you cheer for?
