Salmon Fish Balls Appetizer Recipe – Made From Scratch!
This is a made from scratch fish balls appetizer recipe. One of the best things about making your own party and finger foods at home is you know what is in them. That way you don’t have to eat or serve something that is loaded with all the extra fillers and additives.
While these are made using salmon I think you could also use other types of fish such as mackerel if you wanted. Not only will this recipe show you how to make these salmon fish balls appetizer, it also includes a recipe for a lime mayo dipping sauce.
If you don’t want to be making these right before the game, party or get together, you could make them up ahead of time. Serve them cold or reheat in the microwave.
This recipe uses wheat bread crumbs, but if you or your guests are gluten-free, swap them out with gluten-free bread crumbs.
Salmon Fish Balls Appetizer Recipe
First thing is to smash the salmon with a fork until it is like mush. Then add the egg in and mix it will. (this could also be done in a food processor if you have one)
Next, mix in the spices and bread crumbs and mix well.
Roll the mixture into small balls. You want the fish balls to be about the size of meatballs. Place in a hot pan with about a 1/4 inch of oil in the pan.
Fry until they are golden brown. Drain any oil off and then put on the plate with the dipping sauce.

Salmon Fish Balls Appetizer Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 Frozen Salmon Steaks
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 Cup Whole Wheat Bread Crumbs or gluten free crumbs
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Mustard Powder
- Canola Oil or Avocado Oil
Dipping Sauce Ingredients - ½ C. Mayo, 1 tsp. Garlic powder, 1 tsp fresh Lime juice
Instructions

Thaw salmon in a bowl of lukewarm water (in plastic packaging) for 10 minutes, or until thawed.

Drain water, open packages and put salmon back in the bowl.

Smash salmon into pieces with a fork. Remove any pieces of skin.

Then mix in the egg until well blended.

Add in spices and crumbs and mix well.

Form mixture into balls about the size of meatballs.

Heat pan of oil. You only need about 1/4 inch oil in the bottom of the pan.

Add balls to hot oil and fry on medium to low heat until brown on all sides.

Remove from pan and place on cooling rack to drain off any extra oil.
