Did you know that there are a lot of health benefits of carrots? I remember when I was a child my grandmother would always tell me; “Eat your carrots, they are good for your eyes, after all, have you ever seen a rabbit wearing glasses?” I wonder if she knew how right she was?
The fact is carrots are high in beta-carotene antioxidants, vitamins A, B8 (Inositol), C, K, antioxidant agents, pantothenic acid, folate, potassium, iron, copper, manganese, and fiber. Carrots beautify the skin, help prevent cancer, slow aging, with regular consumption they reduce cholesterol, cut risk of stroke and YES they are good for your eyes. Carrots are simply amazing. In short carrots are a munchy, crunchy, power food!
Health Benefits Of Carrots
1. Protects Skin:
The vitamin A along with antioxidants help protect your skin from sun damage. It prevents premature wrinkling and acne. Deficiencies in vitamin A cause dry skin, hair, and brittle nails. Carrots not only work to help your skin from the inside out, they are even helpful from the outside- in. They make a great inexpensive facial mask. When used as a face mask carrots help protect your skin from free radicals while at the same time promoting the regeneration of healthy new skin cells.
To make your own carrot healing mask, just grate one or two carrots mix in a little honey, a little olive oil, and lemon juice. For oily skin add more lemon, for dry skin use less. Mix well and massage onto your face, letting it remain for 3 to 5 minutes, then rinse well. What could be easier?
2. Increases Blood Flow:
If you are someone that gets stressed and worked up easy, think about eating a carrot when that happens. They are full of potassium which is known for increasing the blood flow and reducing stress on the body. This too works when you get a muscle cramp. Normally a lot of people reach for a banana to keep cramps at bay, but carrots are another food that works well for cramps.
3. Flushes Toxins:
Besides the above health benefits of carrots, they also assist in cleansing the liver by flushing toxins out of the body. Carrots reduce bile and fat from the liver while their high fiber content aid in cleaning the colon and hastening waste removal.
4. Great For Teeth & Gums:
Another great benefit comes when you are crunching and munching on your carrots. All that crunch is cleaning your teeth, gums and mouth, scraping off plaque and food particles. Think of them as a little orange dentist, only cheaper!
That is just a few of the health benefits of carrots. There are really so many benefits there is no way to list them all. Well, I guess you could, but that would make for a really long post or maybe a book.
