Health Benefits of Drinking Wine
There are many health benefits of drinking wine, even if naysayers will tell you otherwise. As with most areas in life, it’s all about balance and moderation. When you learn more about the health benefits of drinking wine and how it can help your body, you may just think about stocking up on it more. Look below for a few of the top health benefits of drinking wine.
Red wine contains resveratrol, which has been a proven factor in helping people retain short-term memory. When studies were conducted on those consuming red wine, it was noted that the resveratrol helped them respond faster, retain new words, memories, and emotions better than those who weren’t sipping the red wine.
Improves Heart Function:
Say goodbye to the gym, well okay, so maybe you should still exercise your muscle but on another note, hear me out. Studies actually showed those who drank a glass of red wine every day had improved heart, brain and bone function. These are three benefits of working out, so let’s see, do you sip the red wine or go to the gym? The choice is yours.
Reduces Risk of Liver Disease:
While some naysayers will tell you that any alcohol will increase Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), studies have proven this false when it comes to drinking one glass of wine per day. Modest wine drinkers have cut their risk of NAFLD in half, whereas comparable beer or hard liquor drinkers have been shown to be at higher risk for NAFLD.
Now when I say it is healthy to drink wine, it does not mean to down a whole bottle day after day. A small glass will do the trick.
Lower your Cholesterol:
Are you suffering from high cholesterol? There are many methods for dealing with this, but studies have shown that resveratrol helps reduce LDL and increase HDL. This means that you’ll be at a lower risk of plaque buildup in your vessels when you drink one daily glass of red wine. Research has shown drinking any amount of alcohol in moderation increase good cholesterol by about 12%.
Depression is a very real mental health illness that impacts many people all over the world. While over drinking could increase depression, studies have actually noticed that moderate wine drinkers have less depression and in fact have seen it disappear more so than those who don’t drink a glass of wine daily. Even with changes in lifestyle, those in this study in Spain were shown to have fewer depression risks.
Promotes Healthy Sight:
As you age, your blood vessels in the eyes may start to get out of control. Drinking wine in moderation daily has been proven to get those out-of-control blood vessels in your eyes back under control. They are hoping, with more studies, wine drinkers will help researchers use this as a means to treat diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.
