Almond Poppy Seed Lemon Bread Recipe
Do you enjoy the taste of lemons? If so, I have an amazing Almond Poppy Seed Lemon Bread recipe for you to try. It is pretty easy to make and will keep you coming back for more.
Nothing fancy needed to make this recipe. Most items you will already have on hand or can very easily grab at your local grocery store. In this recipe, we do use poppy seeds. If you are not a fan of them, feel free to leave them out.
This recipe will make one 9×5 loaf pan of bread. It is also a great bread to make ahead and then freeze for when you need something sweet and don’t feel like doing the work.

Almond Poppy Seed Lemon Bread
The best almond poppy seed lemon bread that will have you coming back for more!
- 3 tbsp Poppy Seeds
- 3 Large Eggs lightly beaten
- 1/2 Cup Olive or Canola oil
- 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 tbsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2/3 Cup Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Milk
- 1/2 Cup Vanilla Yogurt
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 1/2 tsp Almond Extract
- Lemon Zest from one fresh lemon
- Lemon Juice from one fresh lemon
- 1/3 Cup Sugar for glaze topping
- 2 tbsp Lemon Juice for glaze topping
- 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract for glaze topping
- 1/4 tsp Almond Extract for glaze topping
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put the rack on lower middle position.
Grease one standard (9x5) size loaf pan and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, combine poppy seeds, baking powder, flour and salt. Mix until incorporated.
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, oil, sugar, yogurt and both extracts until well-incorporated.
Add wet ingredient bowl to the dry, folding together with spatula until just incorporated. Be sure not to over mix.
Dump batter into prepared loaf pan. Bake 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
To make the glaze, mix ingredients noted for glaze in a bowl and whisk together until combined. This would be the last four ingredients on the list.
Then brush glaze generously over warm bread. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack.
