Dresser Fix – Cover Scratches Without Painting
Have an old dresser or piece of furniture that is a little scuffed up? Don’t toss it and spend money on a new one. You can make it look better with this dresser fix and you do not even need to be a handyman or a crafter.
While many people simply paint their old furniture to make it look better, there are other options. I mean if you are looking for a new color, it is fine to paint it. However, I am someone who likes the look of the wood color and stains.
Plus, painting can be messy and take a while to do it right.
I had some friends that did not want a dresser anymore. They said it was scratched all up so it was just going to be tossed. I hate to see anything that could be reused be tossed out. So I said I would take it.
At first, I was not really going to fix it.
But then I got to thinking about the marker trick I had used in the past for our TV stand and our bookshelf. So I figured I would try it for a dresser fix too.
Dresser Fix Directions:
My simple trick is simply coloring in the scratches and scuffs with a dark permanent marker such as a Sharpie.
Try to find one that is as close to the wood color that you can find. They do also make furniture markes, but I have found that a Sharpie works just as well and is a whole lot cheaper.
After you have a maker that is close to the same color, simply start coloring. It is that easy!
You will not get every little spot to look perfect, but it will look a lot better then it did. Not as easy to notice where all the dings are.
I mean you can tell when you get up close but at a glance, you will not notice them as much.
Here are just a few before and after pictures of the dresser I got for FREE! Simple fix with a $1 Sharpie from Dollar Tree! If you do not have a dollar store around you, they can also be found at office supply stores or even on Amazon.
