Lemon oil is also very effective when it comes to sore throat relief. The proof is in the wide variety of lemon-flavored cough drops available today.
Tea Tree Oil:
Tea tree oil is extremely versatile in fighting bacteria as well, which makes it the perfect “cold buster.” The oil is an antiseptic that contains antiviral and antimicrobial properties to boot.
This means tea tree oil aids in relieving congestion, sore throats and coughing. To get the best results, apply up to 15 drops on your neck and sinus areas.
Oregano Oil:
High-quality oregano oil is super potent. So much so that a little goes a long way. A 2010 study, which was published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, indicates that many sprays containing oregano oil (as part of a blend) provide immediate relief to colds and other respiratory infections.
In the event you feel a cold sneaking up on you, it’s recommended that you put a few drops under your tongue. You won’t enjoy the taste. However, within 24 hours, you should start to feel better.
Eucalyptus Oil:

Clove Oil:
Cloves have been in existence for more than 2000 years. Not only does clove oil help to alleviate a toothache, it helps to eradicate the common cold.
This stimulating, anti-inflammatory fights bacteria like a champ. If you feel like you’re getting a cold and don’t have or run out of oil, you can chew on a clove bud as an alternative remedy.
These are just a few great essential oils for colds to help you get rid of it and keep it away. The good thing about all of them is the fact that they can be used for so many other health-related purposes as well.
