Strawberry Jam With Chia
This strawberry jam recipe is such a great way to use up fresh strawberries that may not have a lot of life left. However, it can also be made using frozen strawberries as well.
This recipe makes one sixteen oz jar of jam. But it can very easily be doubled if you need a larger batch.

Ingredients Needed:
- Strawberries (fresh or frozen if using frozen, halfway thaw first)
- Honey
- Chia Seeds
How To Make This Jam:
Start by adding strawberries to a medium saucepan. Heat on medium heat until strawberries are softened.
When berries have softened, use a potato masher to break up the strawberry into pieces. You can mash as little or as much as you would like.
It all depends on how chunky you like your jam. The more you mash the fewer chunks you will have.
If you like a super smooth jam, you could also use an immersion blender in place of a potato masher.
Then let the pureed strawberries come to a slow boil. Stir it almost continually to keep from scorching.
When it comes to a hard boil, add the honey and mix well.
Reduce heat to low and add in the chia seeds.
The chia seeds will act as a thickener to get the jam-like texture without the need to add pectin.
Continue cooking and stirring the mixture over low heat for about 10 minutes.
Remove from heat and allow to slightly cool.
Pour mixture into a mason jar allow to fully cool then cover it tightly with a lid and store in the fridge.
While the jam is hot with will be thin and runny slightly. After it cools and the chia has had time to do its thing, it will achieve that perfect jam consistency.
