7 Reasons to Keep Plant Tags
When you buy a new plant, is the first thing you do pitch the plant tags? For many people, they discard this informative little piece of plastic thinking they won’t need it again. But before you pitch your next plant tag, wait! There are actually good reasons to hang onto these tags. Take a look below at 7 reasons to keep plant tags, as you will find they can be quite practical and purposeful in the future. Here is what you need to know!
1.) They might entitle you to a refund.
Many plants come with a money back promise if the plant doesn’t survive. This is especially true with perennials. Save the tag along with the receipt so if the plant doesn’t thrive, you can get your money back. Without the tag, the offer might be void.
2.) They can be turned into practical garden markers.
Not everyone likes the look of the plastic tags tucked into the dirt. But you can upcycle these tags into nicer garden markers. Try cutting out the name and photo and decoupage the piece to wood slats. Then just slide them into the ground and have easy, inexpensive plant markers.
3.) They can help you plan your garden lists in the future.
Don’t you hate it when you go to buy plants and can’t remember what you used the previous year? Keep your plant tags in an envelope so when you return the greenhouse, you know exactly what worked for you previously.
4.) They often contain business emails and website information.
Many companies are putting their business information on the tags. These can be excellent resources for growing tips, plant care, and other gardening questions you might have. It might also be worth getting on their email lists for future information, coupons, and more.
5.) They are great for crafts.
Let children play with the tags in their summer sensory bins, sandboxes, or art centers. They usually contain colorful graphics and are perfect for poking into the sand. Kids can even use them for bookmarks or scrapbooking. They can also be used to help kids learn more about the plants they will be tending to.
6.) They can assist with crop rotation.
On a piece of paper you make a basic gardening outline and place the tag where that plant has been placed. Then, reference the chart next year so you can be sure you are rotating your crops and not growing them in the same spot again. This can really help improve your growth!
7.) Last but not least, they contain excellent growing tips!
Why head to the internet to find out how to grow cucumbers when the growing information is right on the tag? It will tell you how much light you need, what kind of soil, and how to space. Keep tags in a binder or envelope so you can reference them when growing.
So are you convinced that plant tags are worth holding onto? Give these reasons to keep plant tags your consideration and you just might look at them a little different!
